Faderhead 2077 Cyberpunk EP

 Gooooood Evening Night City!

This is Mixtape Contagion coming back at you from 89.3 Radio Vexelstrom

I've modified my cyberdeck, linked into the broadcast stream, and I am bringing you some new delicious electo tunes for your auditory pleasure.

Unless you're a gonk you'll stay tuned.

Tonight we have a new EP from Faderhead. That is right the Mohawked man himself has blessed us with a new album 2077 Cyberpunk.

This new album was released from a place of love. Sami grew up reading and playing Neuromancer. Which, if you don't know is one of the best known works of cyberpunk fiction. Inspired by both the upcoming game and the subsequent delay Faderhead released 2077 Cyberpunk

This album is a hard hitting piece of Cyberpunk electro. It is a six track aural experience that makes you feel like you're in Night City. If you purchase it on Bandcamp you also get a bonus track, Snapcoke, only available through the download. That track just enhances the experience. Along with a bonus track you will also get some really cool desktop and cell phone backgrounds.

I would also like to note with the interesting turn of DMCA issues while streaming and sharing videos he has taken a really cool approach here:
"STREAMING PERMISSION:
I give explicit consent to use my music as background music when streaming gameplay, on YouTube content or in DJ sets. A mention/link to faderhead.com is appreciated."

You have to appreciate that.

Now to get into the goods. Like I said this is a 6(7) track album. It opens hard with Move Harder. The opening just fades in with a low pumping bass line and what sounds like a ripperdoc getting to work. This builds up to the beat getting harder and heavier. The vocal parts combined with the background sounds and layering make this track epic. Then toward the end there is like a digital part that feels like its straight out of cyberspace. It jumps back into that beat and hook. Getting heavier until the fade out with that closed connection type noise.

As you unlink from that track you find yourself confronted with Cyberpsychosis. This track feels like you are walking into the club or into a fight scene in Night City. It builds almost like you opened the door and rushed into it. I can't decided if the beat or the synths are my favorite part of it. What he does with the channels and movement of the synths is a mindfuck on the right headphones too. I have on bone conducting ones right now and felt the beat and felt my mind floating along the path he takes with sound. This is probably my favorite track for the feel on the album.

Now hop in your Rayfield or Quadra and blast The Harsh Rejector. This is a cruising tune if I ever heard one. Perfect for those neon drives along the streets of Night City or the long drive to the badlands. The outro of this track is great too because there is a build up and sound slike something speeding past you the opposite direction while you have your windows down. Then gets into the hook and digitally fades out

Now the lead in from The Harsh Rejector into Still Seraching for You is interesting. The way they blead into each other is like a fluid scene transition. You hopped out of your car running toward your friend or love interest, catching them as the collapse. That is the scene I feel. Even though the lyrics are, I'm still searching for you, you have that loss feeling in his vocals and lyrics. Maybe their chip is fried and you need to work your way through Braindances and back alleys to bring them back. Just sitting drowning in bodies and a Johnny Silverhand at afterlife. Definitly feel some emotion in this.

We are building back up in Booster. It is a slower track with a lighter beat but it is reminiscent of what I think of when I think cyberpunk tunes from back in the day. These lyrics too:
I don't know how to take it slow
More chrome for another go
I drop gonks when I shadow roam
I bang hard cause it's time to
Sta Sta Sta Start
Anytime someone is dropping gonks it's a good day. Even if it's just for fun

As that track fades out we get that track that comes across like a soundwave. Prime. Slow build up like your getting data pieces together matching up the code to upload the breach. It keeps a cooler vibe with almost an alert sound pulsating through it. You almost breached the system and then you can relax. Or get ready to take on the next link. The track drops out.

That was a ride through the terminals huh folks? You back with me. You still felling the effects of that audio ride? We didn't make you a brain potato from one album did we? Well fear not, if you pick up this killer piece of cyberpunk audio you will have all that and more. Remember....Hidden Bonus Track!

That is right this album is Preem. You get all those beats and more. I won't give too much away about Snapcoke, but this is a netrunners dream track. The beat and synths are driving.

So do yourself a favor, go check out 2077 Cyberpunk from Faderhead. Drop some Eddies on this audio ride. Take it along with you on your journey into Night City or any city for that matter. I came up a big fan of tech and cyber punk so albums like this are so fun for me. I really hope you check it out. Also dig through some of Faderhead's other music too. I bet you will find some stuff that vibes with you.

Remember to keep checking out Mixtape Contagion on Facebook and here for music, albums, reviews and more. I gotta delta before they backtrace me. The is Mixtape Contagion signing of from VexelStrom.
